Federation of Kutch Industries Association (FOKIA) is an umbrella organization of large, medium & small industries and associations dedicated for resolving the policy related issues to increase the pace of socio-economical development of Kutch district, since year 2000. It is a section 8 Company incorporated under the company law and representing an investment worth INR 1,00,000/- ( One Lac) crores from Kutch Region. FOKIA has been invited as a member in GST State level Coordination Committee formed by Department of Gujarat State Tax & Commercial Tax, Government of Gujarat. FOKIA is authorized by Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, and Government of India to issue Certificate of Origin which is a mandatory document forming part of their export documents. FOKIA is also working very closely with the Government of Gujarat as a knowledge partner in first of its kind Industrial Promotion cell at Bhuj – Kutch. OBJECTIVES:

  • To increase the pace of socio-economical development of Kutch.
  • To explore the avenues of industrial development in Kutch and market the district as potential industrial investment destination,across the globe.
  • To address the policy related issues of the existing and upcoming industries in Kutch.
  • To demolish inspector raj and to improve India’s rating in Ease of Doing Business(EoB).
  • To provide policy advocacy platform for industries in Kutch region

REMARKABLE MILESTONES:

  • FOKIA successfully represented to them Honble Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in year 2001, for fiscal incentive package for reinvention of economy of this earth quack affected region. The fiscal incentives were declared on 31st July 2001. The state government also echoed the gesture and announced sales tax exemption for the unit in the region. The investment prior to the earth quack was merely INR 2500 crores. Whereas today investment over INR 1,40,000 crores is functional in the district and more than double this figure is in the pipeline.
  • To address the long term water requirement of Kutch Industries, FOKIA explored the new souses of water, in consultation with Government of Gujarat, such as Sea water desalination plants, water harvesting,usage of sewerage water and laying of additional water pipeline dedicated for the Industries
  • FOKIA effectively represented to Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC)towards acceptance of security deposit in the form of Bank guarantee instead of cash, DISCOMS.
  • FOKIA successfully organized first of its kind Kutch Business Excellence Award – 2013 , held on 3rd August,2014 -Sunday at Ahmedabad, covering various categories like investment excellence, HR initiatives etc. The then Hon. Chief Minister of Gujarat had been kind enough to be chief guest for the event.
  • FOKIA successfully represented then Hon. Railway Minister Shri Dinesh Trivedi ji for doubling of Samkhyali – Viramgam rail track and Samkhyali-Palanpur-Ajmer rail track. Fokia also pursued the conversion of Bhuj –Naliya rail line from narrow gauge to broad gauge.
  • FOKIA effectively Participated at GERC for the various annual tariff review petitions, submitted by DISCOMS. FOKIA also successfully represented various issues related to open access power.
  • FOKIA is working very closely, with the Government of Gujarat, as a knowledge partner in first of its kind Industrial Promotion cell at Bhuj – Kutch.
  • FOKIA successfully represented to then Hon. Then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel for Land Revenue reforms in the District and State.
  • FOKIA has organized more than 200 seminars on various subjects, ranging from electrical and machine safety, open access power policy, Goods and Service Tax (GST), Safety, Health & Environment, sea water desalination, recycling of sewage water, water harvesting, solid waste management, and human resource development, MSMEs, Renewable energy etc.
  • FOKIA was conferred “Outstanding Achievement award for industrial Development “by IEDRA (Indian Economic Development & Research Association), on 09.01.2016, Saturday at New Delhi.
  • FOKIA had put lots of efforts for restoration of Air connectivity at Kandla (Kutch – Gujarat) We are very much happy to note that Kandla and Mundra of Kutch region have been included in the Regional Connectivity Scheme and the Kandla – Mumbai – Kandla flight services has been initiated by Spice jet under UDAN scheme. It is also worth mentioning here that Mundra-Ahmedabad services have also been initiated.
  • FOKIA has been selected as a member in GST state Level Coordination Committee formed by Gujarat Commercial Tax, Government of Gujarat. The objective of the committee is to discuss the issue being submitted from trade & industries at the Government level and make a proper recommendation to the government
  • Memorandum of Understanding executed between Transport Department, WIAA and FOKIA for establishing a safe driving training institute at Kutch to impart driving skill to the people
  • The feeder canal work from Kutch Branch Canal (KBC) to Tappar dam has been completed on 31/05/2017 and has been dedicated to the Nation by Hon. Prime Minister, Shri Narendrabhai Modi on 22/06/2017.
